Xmas Ideas

December 12, 2011 4 Comments

Hello   Xmas is coming in a hurry this year, I think I said that last year as well. When my children were young I was always so organized and had the xmas shopping well done by October most years, now I am the queen of the last minute. How did that happen ? Haha. I have been out shopping with my sons lovely girlfriend Chantel, with two sons, what a blessing it is to have another woman around to share these pleasures. With her help I have managed to complete all of my xmas shopping, she really helped with ideas of what to buy everyone. Now I am ready 'almost' and can't wait for everyone to open their presents. I have also been making xmas presents for friends and have a few ideas to share with you all. You can never have too many pin cushions. I also love thread catchers and have made this one with a pin cushion to match for a friend. [caption id="attachment_696" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Pin Cushion and Thread Catcher[/caption]   [caption id="attachment_697" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Pin Cushion with fabric flower[/caption]   [caption id="attachment_698" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Thread Catcher with Pinwheel Base[/caption]   [caption id="attachment_699" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Thread Catcher and Pincushion[/caption]   I think this container could have many uses and I have made it so that it will hang onto the tray of my sew easy table. I thought our sew in day ladies might enjoy making these in Janurary. Happy Stitching Sharon

I would love to share with you the Adelicia Sampler as a Twelve part block of the month. Along the way I will be posting each month, all that I learnt while making the blocks. (I love how much this quilt has taught me) There are many of my favourite blocks included in the sampler, some you will recognize from my past quilt patterns. I will also post information of selecting the fabrics I have used, this is a great quilt to have you delving into your stash and finding all those reds you have tucked away.

Vintage Nine Patch Quilt

The inspiration for this quilt came from a small picture of part of an antique quilt, made with the nine patch block. I think what inspired me was the use of colour and of course the wonderful use of the flying geese blocks in the border.
I hope you enjoy my pictures of this quilt.
