Friendship Stars Quilt | Pine Valley Quilts

A finished Quilt | Friendship Stars Quilt

The Friendship Stars Quilt has been a pleasure to make from start to finish. It has been one of those quilts where everything fell into place without a hitch.

With the quilting I decided on overall free motion feathers, will a few circles and swirls thrown in here and there to mix it up a bit. I am really pleased with the outcome.

I hope you like it too..........

The conclusion I have come to after joining in on this block swap and making my friendship stars quilt is that a block swap is a fabulous way to make a quilt! And fabulous new friends........
Thank you to all the lovely quilters who made the star blocks in my quilt....

The inspiration for this quilt came from a small picture of part of an antique quilt, made with the nine patch block. I think what inspired me was the use of colour and of course the wonderful use of the flying geese blocks in the border.
I hope you enjoy my pictures of this quilt.

Thread choices for invisible machine applique
Thread choices for invisible machine applique

Invisible machine applique seems to be mostly associated with either smoke or clear monopoly or nylon threads. When starting my journey with invisible machine applique these are the threads I used too. Now of course there are so many wonderful threads available, many of them suitable. The only thing that may be of concern is that you need a variety of colours, with monopoly smoke and clear threads there are only two colour choices, therefore limiting how many colours you need.
