Winterwood Quilt BOM Pattern

Today I am busy preparing Applique flowers for the Winterwood Quilt I am currently working on. I have two kinds of flowers in the block I am working on today.
After playing with many different applique techniques over my quilting journey, I have now found and tweaked the method that suits my style the best. You can find out more about my methods in my E-book where I explain in detail the steps I use to create turned edge applique. I love the way I can now create applique without the use of glue's or starches and washaway stabilizers.
I just love the Red's and Brown's together in this quilt (the red fabrics are mostly Minich and Simpson. The Brown fabrics are mostly reproduction fabrics I have collected over time.) I am getting quite excited about the overall look that is happening before my eyes each time I complete a new block. I am calling this quilt `Winterwood'. The name comes from the brown leaves in the winter, but somewhere out there in my garden this past winter there were burst of colour from the Camillia's, and the Magnolia tree's, that's what inspired this quilt design. The center block has a wreath that swirls like the wind, definetly a winter feel. Originally I planned to make a quilt that had wreath blocks, but I am always inspired by my surroundings and somewhere along the way my plans changed a little. I just love when that happens, this quilt had better ideas.
The Winterwood Quilt has a large applique center block, surrounded by twelve smaller blocks. The final border is yet to be designed, I am thinking it will be an applique border BUT I am waiting till all the blocks are made a sewn together before I decide. I love the mystery of seeing the quilt come together as I work on it. It keeps me wanting to complete the next step.
I can't wait till I can show you all the blocks ! This quilt has my full attention, I have been sewing and designing madly, and have fallen in love with the Winterwood Quilt.
I can only show you a few small progress photo's at the moment !..... believe me it's not easy not being able to show more.
I will publish each block separetly to the website so you can also join in the fun of making the blocks with me. I can't wait to share the Winterwood Quilt with you.
