Tutorial Making Applique Circles

Tutorial Making Applique Circles Today I am busy making applique circles for a new quilt I am designing. I have got 288 circles in total. I have made 72 so far,  along way to go yet. I have decided that it is better to have a bit of entertainment while I do this so have moved into the living room so I can watch telly at the same time. I have template plastic circles, using perfect circles by karen K Buckley, take a look at these on my website. http://www.pinevalley.co.nz/product/perfect-circles I have cut my fabric with a extra 1/8 - 1/4 inch seam allowance. Then I sew a running stitch with needle and strong thread and gather the seam allowance over the template. I use spray starch using a paint brush to dampen the edges, then iron them down till it is dry. I can then undo enough to take the template out and press back in place with the iron. My circles turn out really nice, it just takes a bit of time. Here are some pics of the process. [caption id="attachment_145" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Step One"]

If you have another way of doing these I would love you to share. Look forward to your comments. Happy Stitching Sharon
