My latest Civil War Bride Blocks

September 16, 2011 9 Comments

Hello Everyone I have been slowly making my Civil War Bride Quilt. I mean slowly, as I have had to concentrate on Pine Valley Quilts and not my own quilts. I am not a great follower of patterns and intend to make a few changes to this quilt to put my own stamp on it. I will make changes to the border and a couple of the blocks. It has been a lovely quilt to make so far and enjoying the applique. I have snuck a but of time in and finished a couple of blocks on this great quilt. I have done these with invisible machine applique as I never have time to sit and relax with hand applique anymore, although I am thinking it may be a good idea to have some on the go for those times when hubby is watching boring stuff on the telly. Oh well maybe thats when I could get some hand quilting done. ( haha ) Here are the pictures I hope you like my show and tell   Happy Stitching Sharon

These are gorgeous! I ended up using that same background fabric for my “Beyond the Cherry Trees” BOM. Your color choices are lovely.

I have been missing in action for a few days....... do you get withdrawal symptoms when you don't get to sew?... I do. Seriously I'm addicted!

Today is a good day, I am in my happy place at the sewing machine. My machine is cleaned and oiled, with a new needle and I am ready to go. I plan to get busy finishing the flying geese units for the final border on my Vintage Nine Patch Quilt.

This month (January) the Small Wonders Club quilt pattern is called 'Rose of Thorns'. I am in love with this little quilt it has all my favourite colours in it and of course a little applique too. I think I'm also addicted to Flying Geese blocks, they are so cute in the border. Rose Of Thorns measures 22 inches square.
