Lazy Dazy Bag

February 08, 2010

Hello I have been busy recreating a bag pattern that I have on my website. ( www.pinevalley.co.nz ) I have made this in a different colour way and will be selling it as a kit. This bag was originally created out of left over blocks from one of my quilts and has become a favourite for when I go to my stitching groups. I made the new bag for a lovely lady ( Becky) who lives on Great Barrier Island and runs the local golf course. My husband goes fishing over on Great Barrier Island for a week every year in February, ( my week of peace and uninterrupted sewing time ) and has done for at least 20 years. There are sometimes at least three boats that go and it has become a ritual to play golf as a competition between the boats, (as well as the biggest fish of course ) our boat has always won this competition and Becky takes great care of all the men while they are there, so to thank her for her trouble I made her this bag. Happy quilting Sharon

Today is a good day, I am in my happy place at the sewing machine. My machine is cleaned and oiled, with a new needle and I am ready to go. I plan to get busy finishing the flying geese units for the final border on my Vintage Nine Patch Quilt.

This month (January) the Small Wonders Club quilt pattern is called 'Rose of Thorns'. I am in love with this little quilt it has all my favourite colours in it and of course a little applique too. I think I'm also addicted to Flying Geese blocks, they are so cute in the border. Rose Of Thorns measures 22 inches square.
