A little Wool Project

May 28, 2014

Hello Everyone

I had such a lovely day today, this morning we had the worst frost I have ever seen.

The sun is out and the day is warming up. I purchased some lovely pieces of wool some time ago with the thought of doing some hand stitching at night, now that the nights are getting colder I am keen to get started. Here are some pictures of my progress so far....................

I am afraid the colours have not come out so good in the photo, the blue looks a little greyer in the photo of the circles above. I have used a brown linen fabric for the background, I love the look of the linen mixed with the wool. The cotton print fabric I have used for the basket has been a small piece I have had in my stash for a very long time and I have loved it so much I have never been able to part with it. I think it fits perfectly in this project. I am however a little upset with the way some of these wool fabrics are fraying. Does anyone have any tips to help with this ? Well I'm off to enjoy the sunshine.

I have been missing in action for a few days....... do you get withdrawal symptoms when you don't get to sew?... I do. Seriously I'm addicted!

Today is a good day, I am in my happy place at the sewing machine. My machine is cleaned and oiled, with a new needle and I am ready to go. I plan to get busy finishing the flying geese units for the final border on my Vintage Nine Patch Quilt.

This month (January) the Small Wonders Club quilt pattern is called 'Rose of Thorns'. I am in love with this little quilt it has all my favourite colours in it and of course a little applique too. I think I'm also addicted to Flying Geese blocks, they are so cute in the border. Rose Of Thorns measures 22 inches square.
